TECTONIC, developed in Iceland in 2015 by Simon Berz, consists of basalt stones and electronics and represents Berz's unique approach to combining unadulterated natural elements with modern sound technology. Berz has given concerts both solo and in collaboration with various artists worldwide. From Iceland to Cuba, Indonesia, Russia, China, and New Orleans - the sounds of the stones resonated in every cultural circle. This universal resonance underscores the cross-border power of natural sounds.
With TECTONIC[A], together with Lilu Herlambang, a visual artist from Indonesia, provides the interpreted visualization of the atmosphere. Her playground is within the organic textures and digital manipulation, combining the two and pushing the limits of the boundaries between imperfection. She collects natural textures through her journey and blends them together into an abstract form.
This combination then creates an outcome of in-the-moment experimentations, making all their performances unique and one-of-a-kind.
